How to get license after completing Pharmacy course

Pharmacy courses are top chosen courses among students. BPharma, DPharma, MPharma and Pharm. D are different Pharmacy courses offered by Universities. After successful completion of any of the Pharmacy courses, graduate can apply for a license which is a must to make their career.

There are five types of drug licenses which a graduate can get. These are as follows:-

  • Sale Drug License – License issued for the sale of drugs.
  • Manufacturing Drug License – License issued to the manufacturer of drugs.
  • Loan Drug License – License issued to a business that does not own manufacturing units but uses another licensee’s units.
  • Import Drug License – License issued to the business unit for importing drug.
  • Multi License for Drugs – License issued to the businesses that run pharmacies in different states of the country.




After completing a Pharmacy course, a student has to register in the State Pharmacy Council and then there is a registration process which includes:-

  • Documentation
  • Online form fill up
  • Verification of documents

Some of the Documents required in this process are :-

  • Identity proof of partner/ director/ proprietor (Domicile/ driving license/ Voter ID card)
  • Documents related to premises (Property tax receipt incase of own property/ rent agreement in case of rented property)
  • Additional documents for retail sale registered pharmacist
  • Proof of qualification
  • Registration of State Pharmacy Council
  • Appointment letter
  • Photographs of the sole proprietor, partners or director

Once the verification is done and the graduate meets all the demands that are required to get a license and then the license is issued. Only one license is issued after completion of each Pharmacy course. More than one license cannot be issued whether a student has completed D. Pharma degree or Pharm. D. After getting the license, the individual can run his own medical store or can give it to somebody else who wants to run medical store and can charge a fair amount on monthly basis.
