BSc Agriculture is a four year undergraduate course which is one of the top choices among students. It is a career oriented course but it is very important to pursue the course from a recognized university. Some students always have in mind that if a college is not approved by ICAR then the degree is not valid. But it is not so. As mentioned above, ICAR does not have any authority to give approval to a college or university. A college needs to be affiliated to State or central university and recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC).
There are few universities that are approved by ICAR. For getting admission in ICAR approved universities, students have to qualify an entrance exam. There are several universities that are not approved by ICAR but are affiliated to state or central university and recognized by UGC. Admission in these colleges can be taken on merit basis or by qualifying an entrance exam conducted by the college itself.

These colleges are located in Dehradun also known as ‘Education Hub’. All these colleges are recognized by UGC and affiliated to Central or State University. The colleges have experienced faculties which give theoretical as well as practical knowledge. Moreover, colleges have huge campus along with agricultural land for practice, classrooms, laboratories, libraries, hostels, infirmaries, gymnasium, swimming pools, canteens etc. Not only this, but the colleges conduct placement programs also. After completion of BSc Agriculture, Graduates can work in private as well as government sector such as NABARD, FCI, ICAR, National Seed Corporation of India, State Farms Corporation of India and many such organizations.
Thus, we can say that BSc Agriculture is a career oriented course and pursuing this course from non ICAR institutes does not affect the knowledge or degree of a student.
