WHAT ARE THE NURSING COURSES OPTIONS AFTER 12TH?

Choosing the right course after the completion of 10+2 is a difficult task for students especially for the ones looking for making a career in nursing field. There are various options available for students from not only Science but Commerce and Arts stream also.

Nurses are the pillars of Healthcare industry. They take care of patients and also assist doctors in their work. Students pursuing nursing courses are imparted knowledge about taking care of ill patients, keeping medical records of patients, taking precautionary actions for healthy patients.

The nursing courses which a student can pursue after 10+2 are:-

GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery)
  • General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) – General Nursing and Midwifery or GNM is a three and a half year diploma course. This course focuses on subjects such as anatomy and physiology, midwifery and gynecological nursing. During this course, students learn to deal with patients and assist doctors and help them develop skills to work efficiently in a hospital environment and provide first aid, blood pressure monitoring, etc.
ANM (Auxiliary Nursing and Midwifery)
  • Auxiliary Nursing and Midwifery (ANM) – Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery or ANM is a 2 year diploma course. This course imparts knowledge and training in the field of maternity care and providing assistance to new mothers during pregnancy and post delivery.
BSc Nursing
  • BSc Nursing – BSc Nursing is a 4 year undergraduate course in which the medical aspirants get thorough knowledge and training in the processes of wellness, illness management and health promotion.

 

ANM, GNM, and BSc Nursing are the nursing courses that are lucrative and can be pursued by students after 10+2. ANM and GNM can be pursued by students of Science, Commerce, and Arts stream whereas BSc Nursing is pursued by students of Science Stream. Students must always go through the details of these courses before taking admission to any college.
