Is Dehradun Good for Nursing

The most important nursing courses that attract students are BSc Nursing, General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) and Auxiliary Nursing & Midwifery (ANM).

B.Sc Nursing is a 4 year undergraduate course in which the medical aspirants get thorough knowledge and training in the processes of wellness, illness management and health promotion. This is a paramedical course which not only imparts theoretical knowledge but also teaches compassion and empathy towards the patients. By doing this course, students become adept in dealing and taking care of the patients.

General Nursing and Midwifery is a three and a half year nursing diploma course pursued by students after the completion of 10+2. This course aims at teaching the students about taking care of patients, assisting the doctors and develops skills to efficiently work in hospital environment. This course focuses on subjects such as anatomy and physiology, midwifery and gynecological nursing. A student has to invest six months in internship after which the diploma is provided.

 

Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM) is a diploma programme of 2 years that teaches students how to care for patients, particularly pregnant women during and after pregnancy. This course also provides students with practical experience during their six-month internship. This is the most basic diploma course that can be chosen as a first step towards a career in nursing.
