Bachelor in Computer Application

  • BCA is a three year undergraduate course pursue by students after the completion of 10+2.
  • This course imparts knowledge on computer application, programmes and software development. It imparts knowledge about different computer applications and how to solve the problems which arise from a computer and its applications.
  • The eligibility of this course is that a student must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 50% in any stream (Science, Commerce or Arts) from a recognized board. It is compulsory to have Mathematics in 10+2.
  • The minimum age to pursue this course is 17 years and upper age limit is 21 years.
  • The average fee for this course is 40,000rs – 60,000rs per annum.
  • Subjects taught in BCA are Business Communication, Cost Accounting, C Programming, Principles of Management, Management Accounting, Internet Programming, etc.
  • BCA Graduates can work as Computer Programmer, Software Developer, Marketing Manager, Computer System Analyst, Business Consultant, Finance Manager, etc.
  • Some of the recruiting organizations are HP, Flipkart, Accenture, Cognizant, Aricent, Microsoft, Wipro, TCS, etc.
  • The average salary of professionals is 6lakh – 10lakh per annum.

BSc IT (Information Technology)

  • BSc IT is a three year undergraduate course that is pursued after 10+2.
  • This course is all about storing, processing and managing information and process of managing huge data and information. It helps to analyse the performance of the computer system and servers and ensure secure transfer of data in a network.
  • The eligibility of this course is that a student must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 50% in any stream (Science or Commerce Stream) from a recognized university. A student must have studied Mathematics/ Computer science/ Statistics in 10+2.
  • The minimum age to pursue this course is 17 years.
  • The average fee for this course is 90,000rs – 3lakh per annum.
  • The average salary of professionals in this field is 2lakh – 4lakh.
  • Subjects taught in Basics of Computer Science, C Programming, Operating System, Data Structures, Computer Networking, Basics to Digital Electronics, etc.
  • Some of the recruiting companies are Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Sapient, Unisys, VSNL, Siemens, etc

Hence, BCA and BSc IT are both somewhere different from each other in some ways. So, a student must do proper research before applying for any of the courses. But, it is not false to say that both the courses are career oriented and have great career scope.
