JOINT ENTRANCE EXAM (JEE)

Joint Entrance Examination is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for the students willing to take admission to undergraduate engineering and architecture courses in National Institutes of Technology (NITs) Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Information Technology (NIITs) and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs).

JEE is conducted at two levels:-

  • JEE – MAIN
  • JEE – ADVANCED

Several changes are made in 2020 in JEE. Here is detailed and revised information about JEE-

  • JEE MAIN

JEE Main formerly known as All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) was introduced in the year 2002 and renamed in April 2013. The students qualifying JEE main are eligible for admission in notably, National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs).

ELIGIBILITY

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 50% (reduced from 75%).
  • Candidates appearing for class12 are also eligible for JEE main.
  • Candidates must have studied a minimum of 5 subjects which will be considered. They are Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational Subject, Language and any other subject.
  • All aspirants can appear four times a year. Students can appear for JEE Main for three years consecutively therefore the total attempts allowed for each student will be twelve in three years.

EXAM PATTERN OF JEE MAIN

  • Exam mode – Computer Based Test
  • Exam duration- 3 hours (4 hours for persons with benchmark disabilities)
  • Medium- 13 languages including English, Hindi and Gujarati
  • of shifts in JEE Main exam – two shifts per day (9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm)
  • Subjects –   Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics

 

  • JEE ADVANCED

Joint Entrance Examination – Advanced (JEE-Advanced), formerly the Indian Institutes of Technology-Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE), is an academic examination held annually in India. It is conducted by one of the seven zonal IITs (IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, and IIT Guwahati) under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB). Candidates qualifying JEE Advanced are eligible for admission in IITs.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Candidates should rank among the top candidates in Paper-1 of JEE (Main).
  • Candidates should be less than 25 years of age, with five-year relaxation for SC, ST, and PWD candidates.
  • Candidates can attempt examination at most two times in two consecutive years.
  • Candidates should have qualified the Class XII Board Examination (or equivalent) in the previous year.
  • Candidates should not have accepted admission in any of the IIT earlier.

EXAM PATTERN

  • Exam Mode – Online
  • Exam Duration – 3 hours each for Paper 1 and Paper 2 (4 hours for PWD candidates)
  • Medium – English and Hindi
  • of shifts in JEE Advanced exam- two shifts per day (9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm)
  • Subjects – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics

Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts the JEE Advanced counseling. Candidates qualifying JEE Advanced register and fill their choices of preferred courses and colleges during the JEE Advanced counseling.

JEE MAIN and JEE ADVANCED are national level exams which a student must qualify for getting admission in IITs, IIITs, NITs, GFTIs. With proper preparation and time management, a student can qualify for these exams and can take a step forward towards his bright future.
